Emily Polanco (b. Los Angeles, CA) is a sculptor who explores ideas of preservation through accretion. of plaster and glues over scavenged materials. Harvesting objects such as dust, dead plants, hair, and animal toys, she constructs calcified ecosystems by affixing them together on structures of steel with plaster and resin.

Emily received her MA in Art from California State University, Northridge, and is currently pursuing her MFA in Visual Arts at the University of California, San Diego. She has been the recipient of the Bob and Lynn Bassler Painting Scholarship in both 2021 and 2022. Based in San Diego, she continues to teach and develop her practice.
